While I believe much fluffy nonsense is written in favour of superfast broadband, that doesn't prove there is no solid case for superfast. Sometimes drowned out by the fluff-merchants are a number of more thoughtful advocates for superfast. They are seeking to build a case for fibre (and its societal merits) based on careful analysis and data. I don't agree with their conclusions, but I certainly respect their work.
Leading lights of the honourable opposition include:
Benoît Felten (of Diffraction Analysis) blogs interestingly here.
Antony Walker (formerly of the BSG, now TechUK) has written about building a case for FTTH purely on the basis of time saved in using existing applications.
Plum Consulting's A Framework for Evaluating the Value of Next Generation Broadband is well worth a look, even though it is a little old now.
